Baycrest understands that some people have Private Companions whom they would like to have support them while they are at Baycrest. As such, Baycrest has a registration process which helps us to ensure Private Companions serve the residents/patients in a safe and effective manner while maintaining health and safety standards throughout the premises of Baycrest.
A Private Companion is an individual who is hired privately by a family member of a Client or a Client or any other person to provide companionship and/or assistance with activities of daily living for the Client. Private Companions when working in their capacity as Private Companions are not Baycrest employees nor are they retained by Baycrest to provide Services.
We have one process for people in our nursing home and complex continuing care units of the hospital and another process for the following units of the hospital; 6West, 4East/West and 3East/West.
For more information, please download the Private Companion Registration Packages:
- Registration Package 1
Private Companions who work in the Apotex Jewish Home for the Aged and the complex continuing care units of our hospital which are units 5 East; 5 West; 6 East; 7 East & 7 West. - Registration Package 2
Private Companions who work in our specialized units of the hospital which are units 3 East; 3 West; 4 East; 4 West & 6 West.
Please note: If the Private Companion works on 6West, 4East/West or 3East/West six (6) weeks or longer they are then expected to complete the full Private Companion Program.
