Research studies need participants


The Research Centre for Aging and the Brain at Baycrest is looking for people to participate in memory and depression studies. If you are interested in participating and finding out more please read the information listed below.


Participate in depression studies at Baycrest

Are you feeling depressed or low? Are you over 60 years old?
And experiencing any of the following:

  • Lack of motivation or interest in activities?
  • Memory problems?
  • Poor appetite, sleep, or energy?

ImageDoctors at the Research Centre for Aging and the Brain at Baycrest are conducting depression studies which you may be eligible for if you are:

  • 60 years old or older
  • currently depressed
  • in good general health

Are you over 55? Lend us your brain for a few hours!

The Research Centre for Aging and the Brain at Baycrest is looking for healthy volunteers between the ages of 55-85 to participate in studies on aging, memory and cognition. Each study involves measuring your brain activity while you perform attention and memory tasks on a computer. Eligible participants should be free of disorders that affect thinking ability, such as Alzheimer’s disease, depression, or stroke. Participants will be paid for their time. Are you healthy and not taking any psychotropic medication?

If so, you might be able to participate in a brain imaging study.

We are currently seeking healthy volunteers for up to two PET brain scans at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, to compare with PET data in Alzheimer’s disease patients. Persons eligible for a screening interview must meet the following criteria:

  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • No cognitive, medical, neurological, or psychiatric problems.
  • No history of psychotropic medication such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, etc.
  • No lifetime history of alcohol or substance dependence
  • No alcohol or substance abuse in the past 6 months
  • No significant head injury
  • Willingness to attend appointments reliably.
