I study memory, cognition and the brain. With regard to memory and the brain, I am interested in recent and remote memory for personal and public events, and for spatial location. I study the changes these memories undergo with time and experience, from childhood to old age, in people who are neurologically intact and in people with brain damage or brain degeneration associated with dementia. I use behavioural and neuroimaging techniques to illuminate the psychological processes and brain mechanisms that are involved. I also am interested in how memory interacts with other functions, such as attention, perception, problem solving, emotion and social behaviour. In addition, I study face perception and recognition, as well as specialization of the cerebral hemispheres.
