What do dentists do? Dentists perform dental assessments, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, and more. Our dentists are integral parts of the interprofessional care team, supporting and educating clients about the importance of oral hygiene to overall health. What dental services are provided at Baycrest? The Alpha Omega Dental Centre at Baycrest is tailored to the unique needs of adults over the age of 65. Dentists at Baycrest draw clients from within Baycrest and accept referrals from long-term care homes, assisted living residences, hospitals and dentists unable to adequately care for this population. The Centre also improves the capacity of all dentists to care for the geriatric population by: Providing consultative support to dentists in the community Conducting research and publishing findings Accepting patients who cannot be accommodated in general practice Dentistry qualifications Baycrest’s dentists have valid Certificate of Registrations or licences from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Dentists must satisfy specific academic and professional qualifications and standards set by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the College to obtain a Certificate of Registration.
