What You Need to Know When Supporting a Move to Long Term Care for a Person Living with Dementia

The move to a long-term care home can be one of the most challenging and overwhelming times for caregivers throughout the dementia journey. During this presentation, attendees will learn practical tips and suggestions to consider in the weeks and days leading up to the move, as well as how to manage on moving day. Participants will also learn what caregivers can expect in the first few months prior to the move. The presentation will touch on the following components: where one fits in this new environment, an overview of responsive behaviours and why they might happen, the importance of Family Councils and the significance of self-care for caregivers.
